When Xavier Ramirez, a safety on the Pebble Hills High School football team, suited up for a game , he did not know he would be part of a military homecoming.

Army Sgt. 1st Class Robert Sanchez surprised his son on Friday, Oct. 10, after a nine-month rotation with the United States European Command in Germany, before the Pebble Hills vs Montwood football game.

Clad as the Spartan, the school's mascot, Sanchez surprised the senior amid the whole pageantry of the team running onto the field, accompanied by American flags and those of each military branch, as the band played with the full bombast of a Texas high school football matchup.

The rouse began with a brief video message played on the stadium screen, in which Sanchez apologized for not being able to attend his son's game.
