Patton Sophomore Elisabeth Sawdy logged the fastest time in the girls' division at the John F. Hall United Way Cross Country Invitational on Wednesday.

She won the girl's invitational race with a time of 19:31.87. Madison Sledge, a senior at University Christian in Hickory, won the girls' championship race but took 32 seconds longer than Sawdy to finish the course. The field consisted of nearly 300 runners from 18 schools.

Esat Burke senior Elijah Baker took the boys invitational division title with a time of 17:26.98. Runners from Asheville, Bandys, St. Stephens and T.C. Roberson filled out the rest of the top 10.

Sean Reed, a senior at Bandys High School, had another strong showing on Wednesday. He finished fourth in the boys' championship division, clocking in at 17:08.64
