SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Ozarks Food Harvest is preparing for an influx of federal workers seeking food assistance as the current government shutdown continues, drawing on lessons learned from the 2018 shutdown.

Jordan Browning, director of communications at the nonprofit, who has worked with the food bank for several years, said the organization knows which workers typically arrive first when government funding lapses.

“We saw workers from the federal medical prison. We’ve seen TSA workers and then a variety of other federal agencies that were affected and were needing food assistance,” Browning said.
