FLATBUSH, Brooklyn (PIX11) – A rideshare driver was attacked over a fight about payment in Brooklyn early Saturday morning, according to the NYPD.

Police said it happened near Flatbush Avenue and Beverly Road around 3:30 a.m. The 39-year-old driver was arguing with 43-year-old passenger Vernal Johnson when he was shoved, according to authorities.

Police said the driver fell to the ground and was then punched in the face. His cellphone was also stolen, according to authorities.

Johnson was arrested and charged with robbery, criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a weapon. Sources said the suspect had a boxcutter and narcotics on him when he was taken into custody.
