EAST LANSING – A week after Michigan State football’s defense finally found a rhythm in getting to an opposing quarterback, the Spartans will be missing two of their key edge rushers and two starters in the secondary against UCLA and Nico Iamaleava.

Jalen Thompson and Anelu Lafaele are out for MSU’s homecoming game against the Bruins on Saturday, Oct. 11 (noon/BTN). The Spartans also will continue to be without safety Nikai Martinez and nickelback Ade Willie for the second straight game after both missed last week’s 38-27 loss at Nebraska.

Lafaele was seen on crutches and in a boot covering his lower left leg on the field after the Huskers game. The redshirt freshman, a Wisconsin transfer, posted a picture to his Instagram on Friday from a hospital bed with a bandaged left foot. M
