WARFORDSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -- A rest area along a Midstate highway has been closed since July and its reopening has been pushed back, again.
PennDOT says the rest area on Interstate 70 Westbound near Warfordsburg in Fulton County likely won't reopen until the new year.
It's been closed since July 21 for the installation of a new water treatment system.
Contractors have dealt with unforeseen issues, leading to multiple delays, PennDOT says, and work has continued daily.
It was initially supposed to reopen on Monday, August 18, PennDOT said in an earlier release. That was slightly ahead of the planned reopening on Sunday, August 24.
