New Delhi, Oct 12: Union Minister Manohar Lal discussed India’s energy transition leadership at the G20 Energy Transitions Ministerial Meeting in South Africa.

He highlighted that India has achieved its NDC target of 50% non-fossil fuel capacity ahead of the 2025 deadline and outlined goals to become a global hub for green hydrogen and to reach 100 GW of nuclear power by 2047.

Lal emphasized the urgent need for global cooperation on energy security, particularly for the Global South, and cited India’s successful biofuel program. He called for climate justice and support for initiatives like Africa’s Mission 300 to provide electricity to 300 million Africans by 2030.

The minister extended an invitation to the upcoming Bharat Urja Manthan in March 2026 and engaged in bilateral discussion
