PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WSMV) - Deputies arrested a 9-year-old in Putnam County for allegedly threatening two of their classmates, according to the sheriff’s office.

The child is charged with aggravated assault with deadly weapon without intent to kill after allegedly bringing a knife to school Wednesday and brandishing it at their peers. The student was booked into the Putnam County Jail before being released under their parent’s supervision.

Authorities say it all happened during recess at Middleton-Burney Elementary School when the student got into a fight.
