COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Tigers remained unbeaten with a hard-fought defensive dominated 14-7 victory over a pesky Fort Valley State Wildcat team on Saturday afternoon in Charlie W. Johnson Stadium.
The Tigers, now 6-0 overall and 5-0 in the SIAC, started off with a bang as All-American returner Jaxon Williams opened the game with an 88-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, his second of the season. Williams entered the game as the nation’s leader in kickoff return average.
The Wildcats, who fell to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the SIAC, held the Tigers to a season-low 169 yards of total offense. Benedict held the Wildcats to a season-low 78 yards rushing and just 222 yards of total offense, five yards shy of their season low.
