The WTA has released its 2026 calendar, and one historic British tournament has been left out.

The limited run of grass court events in the UK has long been a point of contention, with only a few weeks separating the end of the clay season from the start of Wimbledon.

Now, another well-known event is being removed from that already brief stretch, further shrinking the window for preparation.

This leaves just three grass court tournaments in Britain, including Wimbledon itself, a change that could hit home players particularly hard.
