Donald Trump will “probably” deserve to win the Nobel Peace Prize next year, a Sky News presenter has said.

Trevor Phillips said even the US president’s critics admit he should get it for brokering peace in Gaza.

Supporters of the US president reacted angrily after the Nobel committee gave this year’s award to Venezuelan democracy campaigner María Corina Machado.

Phillips said: “This extraordinarily brave woman has spent the last year in hiding from thugs controlled by her country’s long-time dictator, Nicolas Maduro.

“But most of the coverage of Muchado’s award focused not on her courage, but on the fact that the American president did not win the prize he so obviously covets.

“That said, even long-time Trump critics are now conceding that he will probably deserve it next year
