FAIRPORT HARBOR – The Catholic Central football team gave unbeaten Fairport Harbor Harding a challenge on Saturday night in Lake County, but the Skippers prevailed 27-20.

Harding, ranked No. 5 in the state in the latest Ohio Associated Press high school football poll in Division VII, improves to 7-0. The Crusaders, meanwhile, drop to 4-4.

The Skippers led 7-0 after one and 21-12 at halftime. Both teams scored just once in the second half.

Central sits No. 12 in the Region 27 standings following the loss according to Joe Eitel’s unofficial rankings. The top 12 make the post season.

The Crusaders go on the road to Conotton Valley (6-2) for another big test on Friday night.
