A Michigan woman won $1 million playing the lottery after a random chance encounter.

Sharonda Blunt, 44, of Detroit, won the Sept. 1 Powerball drawing. She had decided to buy the ticket on a whim while in line at CVS.

“I was talking to a guy in line at the store and he was telling me about the Powerball game and he bought a ticket, so I told the cashier to give me one too,” Blunt said while speaking to the Michigan Lottery .
