A Midland councillor has insisted that changes aimed at easing a housing body's financial problems would not leave vulnerable service users out in the cold.
Stratford-on-Avon District Council's cabinet – a panel of Liberal Democrat councillors overseeing major service areas – has backed a new operating model proposed by housing association Spring to tackle an annual deficit of £361,000 at the Fred Winter Centre.
The centre provides help to those eligible for council support in relation to housing, including services to combat homelessness and hardship as well as temporary accommodation. Its focus areas include health and wellbeing, overcoming financial difficulties, guidance on job and training opportunities, and help to maintain tenancies in local affordable homes.
