The father of the Durgapur rape survivor has appealed to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to allow him to take his daughter back to Odisha, saying her safety is at risk in Bengal.

"My daughter is in pain. She can't walk right now. She is bedridden. I am concerned about her safety here. They could kill her here any moment. That's why we want to take her back to Odisha. Trust has been lost. We don't want her to stay in Bengal. She will pursue her education in Odisha," he told ANI.

Speaking to local reporters, he added, "The Chief Minister, DG, SP, and Collector are all helping us a lot and regularly enquiring about her health. I have requested the Chief Minister to let us take my daughter away from here to Odisha, to a safer place, because here her safety is at risk."
