Longmont is at a crossroads. Families who’ve lived here for generations, like mine, are feeling squeezed by the cost of housing, child care, and daily life. Too often, people who work in our community can’t afford to live here. That’s not the Longmont I grew up in, and it’s not the Longmont I want to raise my kids in.
I believe we need to protect what makes our city special while planning smartly for the future. That means addressing our housing shortage with more for-sale homes families can actually afford, not just endless apartments. It means tackling the crisis in early childhood education so childcare doesn’t cost more than college. It means investing in safe streets, reliable infrastructure, and sustainable growth that respects our environment.
At its best, Longmont is a place wher
