Coco Gauff secured her first singles title since winning the French Open in Wuhan. She overcame World No. 3 and her former doubles partner, Jessica Pegula. It is Gauff’s third WTA 1000 title, and her first of 2025 after final losses at the Madrid Open and Italian Open. Gauff also created a record by beating her compatriot at the Wuhan Open.

Gauff became an 11-time WTA title champion in Wuhan. Two were at Grand Slam level, one at the WTA Finals, three at WTA 1000 tournaments, and five at either 500 or 250 level. The 21-year-old has lost three finals, including at the 2022 French Open to Iga Swiatek. All three of her runner-up placings were at clay-court tournaments, and she holds a 2-3 record in finals on the dirt.
