Indian vice-captain Smriti Mandhana etched her name in record books on Sunday, becoming the first player in women’s ODIs to touch the 1,000-run mark in a calendar year. The milestone came during the Women’s World Cup group-stage clash against Australia, where the 29-year-old also crossed the 5,000-run mark in ODIs, only the fifth and second Indian woman after Mithali Raj to do so.

Mandhana achieved the feat in just 112 innings and 5,569 balls, making her the youngest and fastest to 5,000 runs, surpassing Stafanie Taylor (129 innings) and Suzie Bates (6,182 balls).
