Greg Tack said the bus ride through the streets of Belvidere was electric.
The community came out in droves after Coach Greg and his Belvidere High School bowling team defeated defending champs Kinnelon to win the NJSIAA Group 1 crown in the program’s first season.
“People were waving. The police, firefighters led us through the streets,” said the 29-year-old Phillipsburg resident. “It was surreal.”
It was a full circle moment for Tack, whose career was affected by another “Coach Greg.”
As a 12-year-old in 2009, Tack turned to Greg Rottengen for help. Averaging 137, he needed a spark to take his game to the next level.
