The Blue Jays will once again be forced to go to work in the playoffs without the services of star shortstop Bo Bichette.

Bichette was left off the Jays’ roster for the American League championship series prior to Sunday morning’s 10 a.m. ET deadline. He hasn’t played since injuring his left knee during a game at Yankee Stadium on Sept. 6.

Right-handers Chris Bassitt and Max Scherzer made the cut. The veteran pitchers had been left off the AL division series roster, but with the format expanding to a best-of-seven series, the Jays required an additional starter. To make room, relievers Tommy Nance and Justin Bruihl were left off the roster.
