Raipur, Oct 12: In a significant blow to Maoist activities in Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Bastar region, security forces arrested eight active Maoists during a joint operation in Bijapur district on Sunday.

The operation was conducted by the District Reserve Guard (DRG), personnel from Basaguda Police Station, and the 168th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The arrests took place near Polampalli, along the Putkel–Polampalli route, following actionable intelligence.

Authorities seized a cache of explosives and Maoist propaganda material, including:

• Tiffin bombs

• Detonators

• Cordtex wire

• Safety fuses and batteries

• Earth-digging tools

• Banners with anti-government slogans
