A construction crew demolishing a 130-year-old hospital in Morristown uncovered a piece of local medical history this summer.

Workers fond a commemorative stone from the original All Souls Hospital that dates back more than a century.

The stone, which had dedicated All Souls Hospital when it was founded in 1893 by the Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth, was discovered embedded in the main entrance floor of the former Atlantic Rehabilitation Institute on Mount Kemble Avenue.

Workers carefully removed the stone.

It was taken to the front lawn of Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center at 100 Madison Avenue.
