Things were going from bad to worse in Corvallis for the Oregon State Beavers, and after an 0-7 start to the season, the administration is finally putting a stop to it.

On Sunday morning, it was reported that the Beavers have officially parted ways with head coach Trent Bray, the former defensive coordinator turned head coach following the departure of former coach Jonathan Smith, who left for the Michigan State Spartans job in 2023.

The Beavers are hoping that a change in leadership will lead to a change on the field. However, anyone who follows college football knows that Oregon State is fighting an uphill battle, virtually left for dead in a dying Pac-12 Conference without the resources or talent needed to turn things around.

There were not high expectations for the Beavers going into 2025, but Oregon State managed to subvert even the most negative of projections. Through seven games, Bray's team was winless, getting outscored 249-124. That record featured losses to teams like Fresno State, Houston, Appalachian State, and Wake Forest.

We will wait to see who is named the interim head coach for the Beavers going forward, but looking at their schedule, whoever does take over might have a chance to win a couple of games. Oregon State plays Lafayette this next week, and then has games against Sam Houston State and Tulsa later in the season.

A change in leadership could lead to an uptick in effort and buy-in from the players, so we'll see if this move is enough to generate some positive buzz out of Corvallis.
