No one expected this on the beach. One moment, a helicopter’s sound mixed with the usual weekend noise at Huntington Beach. The next, everything turned terrifying as the helicopter started spinning heavily before crashing into the palm trees.

Beachgoers screamed and scattered. Phones shot up. A few seconds later, the chopper slammed into a row of palm trees and came to rest beside a staircase near Pacific Coast Highway. The terrifying fall left five people hospitalized and sent shock through the crowd that had gathered for a sunny Saturday by the ocean.

It was a horrifying scene, and now we’re seeing perhaps the scariest footage yet of the crash.
