CORVALLIS — Locked in a tie and running out of time, Missoula Loyola's girls soccer team used a shot from a surprised freshman to key its biggest win of the season Saturday.
Luciana Cowmey broke a 2-2 deadlock with a goal in the 72nd minute and the Breakers added an insurance tally three minutes later in a 4-2 victory over upset-minded Corvallis. Loyola finished 6-4 in South A competition, giving it the league's third and final available playoff spot over Polson (5-4-1).
Playing with no seniors and only one available sub Saturday, the Breakers held a lead for most of the first half thanks to a pair of goals by freshman spark plug Emerson Laird.
