City supplies residents with fill-your-own sandbags

Heavy rain slowed travel around Mesa over the weekend of Oct. 10-12.

By the morning of Sunday, Oct. 12, the U.S. 60 freeway had to be shut down temporarily due to pooling water in lanes at Val Vista Drive, and streets around the city had standing water hazards.

The city set up both fill-your-own and prefilled sandbag stations, located around the city, with announced plans to replenish those supplies.

An updated forecast from Maricopa County, which includes more hurricane-remnant storms bringing rain to the Valley the night of Oct. 12 and into the morning of Oct. 13, can be found by clicking here .

The sandbag locations can be found by clicking here.
