• The Detroit Institute of Arts celebrates the opening of its reimagined African American Art Galleries with a number of events during the weekend. A preview for members runs all day on Friday, Oct. 17, with the grand opening and member lecture taking place at 6 p.m. in the Detroit Film Theatre.
