The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday predicted heavy rains for several states, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, until October 20. In its latest bulletin, the weather agency also predicted thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds over the region for the next few days.

On Wednesday, the weather agency said that the Southwest Monsoon was in its final phase of withdrawal and likely to retreat completely from the remaining parts of the country in the next few days. Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon is also expected to commence in the southeastern peninsular region during the next two days.
