TUCSON, AZ (AZFamily) — As the government shutdown drags past two weeks, effects are being seen at the local level.

Over 100 Arizonans who work for the federal government are preparing to be out of a job soon.

The U.S. Census Bureau filed a WARN Notice on Oct. 10 for 101 positions to be laid off. The WARN Notice gives the employees a 60-day warning of their impending layoff.

Arizona’s Family sister station 13 News in Tucson confirmed the layoffs are connected to the Trump administration’s reduction-in-force or RIF. The layoffs go into effect on Dec. 9.

13 News talked to Ken Beyersdorf, a longtime Census Bureau employee. He was sent information from the Department of Commerce about his furlough.
