AUSTIN (KXAN) — Bastrop County has issued a burn ban to mitigate wildfire risk The ban took affect Wednesday.
According to the emergency order, the ban would remain in effect through Oct. 27.
“The purpose of this order is the mitigation of the public safety hazard posed by wildfires during the current dry weather conditions by curtailing the practice of outdoor burning, which purpose is to be taken into account in any enforcement action based upon this order,” the county said.
The ban prohibits people from igniting or causing the ignition of any combustible or vegetative material outdoors.
