Patrick Banger serves now in same role in Gilbert

Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers said the city council faced a difficult choice for the next city manager between Gilbert Town Manager Patrick Banger and Glendale Assistant City Manager Vicki Rios.

Council unanimously voted to appoint Banger as city manager during its Oct. 14 meeting. After the meeting ended, Weiers said the decision came down to one factor.

During direct interviews with the council Oct. 7, he said, both were asked how long they were comfortable serving as city manager before retiring. Banger’s time line as city manager was longer.
