Waverly’s red-light cameras have been catching violators and resulting in tickets since Sept. 4, with a baffling trend in their short history, according to Capt. Cory Stephens of the Waverly Police Department.
“We’re starting to see an emerging trend, as each month passes,” he told Waverly Newspapers Oct. 7.
Three red-light cameras were installed on the Fourth Street SW corridor earlier this year, and a warning period ran from Aug. 4 to Sept. 3.
During the warning period, when violators did not receive citations, the police department was notified of just under 400 violations, Stephens reported.
