A West Lakes mother has pleaded guilty to a shocking deception — faking her own child’s cancer diagnosis to pocket thousands in community donations.
Michelle Bodzsar, 45, appeared via video link from Adelaide Women’s Prison on Thursday, admitting to 11 charges including criminal neglect and deceiving others for financial gain.

The court heard Bodzsar shaved her son’s head, bandaged him, and confined him to a wheelchair to mimic the effects of radiotherapy — all part of a calculated ploy to tug at heartstrings and extract cash.
Between November and December 2024, she duped locals out of $11,500, with individual payments ranging from $500 to $3000. Prosecutors allege the total haul reached nearly $22,000.
