Highland Park— The Highland Park Independent Film Festival returns on October 22 for five days of screenings, workshops, and celebrations that highlight local and international filmmakers.

This year’s lineup for the festival features about a dozen films, documentaries, and shorts, along with an awards gala, after-parties, and a mini Friday-night horror showcase. Highlights include “40 Watts from Nowhere,” a documentary about Los Angeles pirate radio station KBLT, and a closing feature from Mexico, with filmmakers from Mexico City in attendance.
