KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WCMH) -- Former Ohio State offensive lineman Josh Simmons, who is now a rookie with the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL, is absent from the team.
NBC4's Kansas City sister station WDAF reported that Simmons missed the Chiefs' recent Sunday night game against the Detroit Lions after suddenly returning home to San Diego. Simmons' absence is due to a family matter.
During a news conference Wednesday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid declined to give details on the situation, per WDAF. Reid said there is no date where Simmons is expected to return.
Other members of the organization kept things private when asked on the situation with quarterback Patrick Mahomes wishing prayers to Simmons while not disclosing his conversations with the rookie, per WDAF.
