BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) -- The Boardman Police Department was called to a car wash in the 4000 block of South Avenue just before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday after employees discovered the business had been broken into.

The owner of the car wash told police the alarm system was not activated at the time of the break-in, but the owner did not suspect the employee who was working before the break-in of being criminally involved, according to the incident report.

Police determined that the thieves entered the business by smashing through a portion of the back block wall. They then made their way into the office, where reports state they "attacked" the safe from both sides using tools such as a sledgehammer -- which was not found at the scene -- as well as tools from the business itself, including saws
