The Homer varsity volleyball team competed last weekend in the Grace Christian Tournament, making it into the highest competition bracket and placing fourth overall.
Eighteen teams participated in the tournament.
During pool play on Friday, the Lady Mariners beat out Houston, Su-Valley, Grace Christian, Nikiski, Kodiak and Sitka. The team went into bracket play Saturday, competing in the platinum bracket — the highest bracket overall in the tournament. Homer defeated Kenai and Monroe Catholic School, and “fought hard” against Valdez, head coach Brenna Dornellas said, “going point for point in the third set” but losing by just a single point.
