As a Mobile County grand jury considers whether accused Saenger Theatre shooter Marcus Sanders should stand trial for capital murder, his defense attorney wants the judge in Sanders' case to grant the 27-year-old bail.

Mobile County Circuit Court Judge Jay York held a hearing Thursday morning to consider arguments from Sanders’ attorney, Chase Dearman, and Mobile County Assistant District Attorney Madison Davis for and against awarding bond to Sanders, who allegedly shot and killed Carl Williams III during a dance recital at Mobile’s historic showplace on Sunday night, June 1. Sanders pleaded “not guilty” to the charge.
