YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) - At its meeting in May, Mill Creek MetroParks Commissioners voted unanimously to start the process of selling the McGuffey Wildlife Preserve in Coitsville Township. But it wasn't until a second vote was scheduled for Monday that the sale became public, and since then, one group has gone public opposing the sale.

The 73-acre McGuffey Wildlife Preserve is on McGuffey Road in Coitsville Township. Mill Creek MetroParks has operated it since the 1990s, when it was given to them by the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society. Now the MetroParks Board wants to sell McGuffey Preserve.

Coitsville Township Trustee Phyllis Johnson is opposed to the sale, and she gathered today at McGuffey Preserve with three other Township residents who are also opposed to the sale.
