TURLOCK, Calif. —

A man suspected of shooting two people, killing one of them, in Turlock nearly three decades ago has been arrested, according to the police department.

On June 2, 1998, Turlock police said 19-year-old Alma Peralta was shot and killed in the 600 block of Angelus Street. Another person was also shot, but survived.

Officials said investigators later identified José Luis Villa, who is now 58, as the suspect. A warrant for his arrest was issued in 2011, but it was found that Villa was living in Mexico.

But earlier this month, a Turlock dispatcher conducting an audit found information linking Villa to an address in the area, officials said.
