RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Rutherford County School Board voted to accept state-approved grants during Thursday’s meeting.
Over $1 million-worth of those grants will go toward school safety upgrades in the district. That includes threat-assessment software, radios, safety signage, weapons detectors and protective window film for schools.

Another grant the board approved Thursday night is for $520,000, and it will be used to strengthen the special education Pre-K programs.
The funding will also go to training teachers and assistants, classroom supplies and sensory and de-escalation materials.
