COLUMBUS, Ind. – Following a comprehensive nationwide search and a collaborative hiring process, Mayor Mary Ferdon has appointed Nikki Murphy to serve as the next Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Columbus. The Columbus Parks Board approved the appointment during its public meeting on Thursday, October 16.
Murphy brings more than two decades of leadership in parks and recreation, with a career spanning strategic planning, capital project management, and inclusive community engagement. She currently serves as Associate Director of Recreation for Columbus Parks and Recreation, where she has led transformative initiatives, including the over $40 million NexusPark redevelopment and the creation of the city’s first true community center.
