AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) - At approximately 9:00 pm, Thursday night, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 900 block of Horseshoe Road in reference to a traffic accident.

Upon their arrival they located a pedestrian that had been hit by a vehicle.

The victim was taken was taken to the hospital where they died from their injuries.

The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of the family.

The traffic division within the Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.

The vehicle involved is unknown at this time and fled the scene prior to officers arriving.
