A romantic partner online leads them into a profitable investment opportunity, but it’s all fake -- the romance and the investment. It’s costing people thousands of dollars.

The Federal Trade Commission reports people losing over $5.6 billion to investment-related fraud last year.

“They ask you to improve your relationship, build that trust by investing together,” Reinen says.
