(Minnehaha County, SD) — Construction is nearly complete for Phase One of a new Minnehaha County juvenile center. Officials say the juvenile justice center will focus on impacting young lives before they return to the community. Director Jamie Gravett also says the facility is designed for up to 30 years of operation before an expansion would be necessary. Phase Two will include adding space for staff, teachers, and administration once the old juvenile center is fully demolished. Officials have not yet shared the expected move-in timeline, although a target date has reportedly been set.
