LOUISVILLE, Ky. — For the last five years, the Veterans Rural Outreach has been working to give veterans a place to heal and call home. This group is making sure that those who served are taken care of after their service to our country ends.
Martin Johnson is a peacetime veteran who served from 1982 to 1989. But after contracting glaucoma and losing his vision. He had to quit his job as a city bus driver.
“I think I was about a week away from being homeless,” said Johnson.
That’s when he was referred to Veterans Rural Outreach. The VRO has been serving veterans across Kentucky since 2015.
