BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Nearly 17,000 people rely on SNAP benefits in Warren County. Susan Crabbe, president of St. Jones Food Pantry, is all too familiar with how hungry those people are when they come to her food pantry.

Crabbe said, “I’ve seen at least four people in the last two weeks open the milk and drink it before they leave the parking lot.”

She has seen how food insecurity can affect people of all ages.

Crabbe said, “They’re hungry, and most of them are old enough to have retired.”

Her nonprofit, along with several others that combat food insecurity, gathered at St. Teresa Thrift Store. The nonprofit donates to causes including food assistance.
