JASPER COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) - A Heidelberg man has been arrested for child exploitation and kidnapping after an incident on Monday.

According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department, law enforcement received a complaint alleging that 21-year-old Lafette Shelby was messaging a minor through social media.

Investigators reportedly discovered communications between the minor and Shelby. In the messages, it was revealed that a meeting was arranged between the two.

Shelby allegedly forced the minor into his vehicle and held her against her will. He was arrested on Friday and charged with child exploitation and kidnapping.

According to JCSD, he was already out on bond for sexual misconduct against a child on an unrelated charge.
