There's been a deluge of tributes for Diane Keaton this week after her death last Saturday. Reese Witherspoon said she was a mentor for her when she first arrived in Hollywood. Bette Middler called her "brilliant, beautiful, extraordinary". I like Johanna Schneller's comments in the Globe and in a CBC interview that "We were lucky to have her" and that she was an everywoman: effervescent, scrappy and feisty. She was in almost 60 movies, won an Oscar for Annie Hall and was nominated for three others and, everybody agrees, was universally loved.

This week these women have the attention: Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lopez and Mary Wollstonecraft Shelly.
