Cypress Park
The first permanent home of King Taco has been nominated as a city historic landmark , according to a filing with the city . The restaurant chain and its pioneering fleet of trucks have been credited for popularizing the "soft" taco over the fried, hard-shelled variety.
The modest building at the corner of Cypress and Roseview avenues originally served as an ice cream shop on Lankershim Boulevard in 1948. But it was later moved to Tujunga Avenue and, finally, to Cypress Park around 1961, according to the historic landmark application filed by the restaurant chain.
